Curing agents can be categorized by use into the following two main categories:

Room temperature curing agents:

DEFINITION: Room temperature curing agents are substances or mixtures mainly used to promote the curing of resins at room temperature or lower temperatures.

APPLICATION SCENARIO: Room temperature curing agents are often used for paints and adhesives used in civil engineering and construction, etc., because of the difficulty of heating.

Common types: Fatty amines, alicyclic amines and polyamides are common room temperature curing agents. Especially for paints and adhesives used in winter, it may be necessary to use them in conjunction with polyisocyanates or to use polydehydes that have a foul odor.

Heated curing agents:
DEFINITION: Heated curing agents require certain temperature conditions to effectively promote resin curing.Classification:

Medium temperature curing agent: suitable for curing temperature range of 50 to 100℃. Commonly used are some alicyclic polyamines, tertiary amines, imidazoles and boron trifluoride complexes.

High-temperature curing agent: curing temperature above 100℃. Aromatic polyamines, anhydrides, methylated phenolic resins, amino resins, dicyandiamides, and hydrazides are examples of high-temperature curing agents.

Selection criteria: Selection is based on the heat resistance of the substrate and the heat resistance, adhesion, and chemical resistance of the cured material.

Characteristics:

Acid anhydride curing compounds have excellent electrical properties, so they are widely used in electronics and electrical appliances.

Aliphatic polyamine curing compounds have excellent adhesion as well as alkali and water resistance.

Aromatic polyamines are also excellent in drug resistance.

The type and selection of curing agent is crucial to the performance of the product, including mechanical properties, heat resistance, water resistance, corrosion resistance, etc. have a great impact. Therefore, when selecting curing agents, comprehensive consideration needs to be made according to specific application scenarios and needs.
